Summary of the Session:
The Placement cell of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies organized an Alumni Interaction Event for the students of Vivekananda School of Business Studies on14th September, 2019.
The hosts of the event, invited Dr. Indira Bhardwaj to welcome the alumni. They were invited to share their experiences, reconnect with the students and celebrate their success and various achievements.
Ms. Soumya Chawla shared her experience and journey from being a management student at VIPS and pursuing fashion business merchandising and marketing at Pearl Academy, and then being an entrepreneur of Kairos since one and a half years. Furthermore, she guided students to explore options by taking internships in order to gain experience and build resume, take guidance from faculty members. She concluded by saying that “creative side of yours will help you fight in the industry you are looking for.”
Ms. Palak Aggarwal talked about how having a strong base in college helped her later in life. She was very serious and committed to her internships and was offered a job while she was still pursuing her graduation. She successfully managed her job and studies simultaneously. She also expressed her gratitude to the faculty members who walked an extra mile to help her by taking extra classes. She advised students to follow the path of dedication and commitment. She concluded by saying ‘’take your internships very seriously, it is of great use and you never know who’ll call you back if they like your work.’’
Mr. Siddharth was passionate about cooking and music always. He worked as a financial analyst in American Express for 1.5 years before launching The Future is Female (TFIF). He talked about how destiny landed him an opportunity of turning his passion into his profession by meeting a friend, who was also the director of a café. He opened his own restaurant named The Future Is Female, Delhi’s first-of-its-kind all-women run restaurant with an all women staff—chefs, bartenders and servers. In his words, “Women are present in all industries, but are still considered less efficient in the restaurant sector. So, the idea was to make them capable enough to run a café & bar and make them financially independent.”
Ms. Sejal talked about how her journey wasn’t the smoothest of the lot. She aspired to pursue post-graduation but was unable to achieve her goal despite working hard. She was mentored by faculty at VIPS to explore other options and to always have a plan B. Because of which, she “took action rather than just merely thinking” and opted for a short term course in big data analytics. All of this was possible because she “believed in herself” that “she can” and grabbed the opportunities which came her way. She advised to follow their interests even if it is the unconventional path.
Ms. Surbhi Gupta shared her journey of how VIPS provided a platform to transform herself. She was a management student at VIPS when she got mentored by faculty to pursue a Joint Analytics course offered by the institute itself simultaneously with the regular curriculum to get a distinct competitive advantage. She also emphasized the students to learn and develop skill sets which are demanded by the corporate sector.
All the participants including faculty, coordinators and students involved themselves actively in the interaction round. They asked various questions about internships, soft skills, entrepreneurship, fund raising, learning new languages like Python, R and SQL among various other interesting topics. The answers given by the panel were extremely valuable. They also gave valuable advices relating to post graduation and work experience. The audience was intrigued by the answers that the panel gave and their curiosity was served with great responses.
The Alumni Interaction Event concluded with Dr. Indira Bhardwaj, Dean VSBS proposing a vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to the guests for their time and giving precious learning’s to the students. She also placed emphasis upon exploring options to see what the students are capable of. She expressed the feeling of richness and liveliness that she felt throughout the session.

The Placement cell of Vivekananda School of Business Studies (VSBS) organized an Alumni Interaction Event for the current batch of students across courses & semesters on the 9th of February, 2019. Five of the most talented alumni of the institute were invited to share their experiences, reconnect with the students and celebrate their success. The hosts of the event, ShauryaSethi and Shivang Bansal, 2nd year students of the VSBS invited the dignitaries to occupy the dais. The speakers included Ms. Aditi Rohella, BBA (G) graduate of 2017 batch, she talked about the crucial question that arises in every student’s mind, “Am I on the right path?”, Ms. AnubhaVasishtha, BBA (G) graduate of 2017 batch, she discovered her new-found interest in the field of marketing & advertising and was determined to make the most of her BBA. She aspires to utilize her potential and make a mark in the world. She’s working in a leading global advertising agency where she’s handling accounts of powerful brands. Further, she elaborated how ad agencies actually work. Anubha is currently working as the Senior Account Executive at Ogilvy, a New York based creative agency. Her passion for her work glows as she speaks about it and so she concluded “be different, be passionate.”
Ms. Shubhrika Dogra, BBA (G) graduate 2018 batch. She believes that VIPS has helped her go beyond the four walls of college and gain an immense amount of exposure. She aspires to launch a magazine under her brand name. She concluded by saying that “stick to what you love doing.” Mr. Anand Bothra, BBA (Banking and Insurance) graduate of 2017 batch. Anand shared his passion for taxation and how much he loves finance. He is currently working as an Indirect Tax Analyst at the Big4 company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He appreciated the fact that he found everything he needed in VIPS, be it the state of the art infrastructure or the faculty members who are best at what they do and have mastered their subjects. He concluded by suggesting the students that they should never hesitate in reaching out to their teachers as they must absorb the full benefit of having such great people around.
Mr. Aditya Goel, BBA graduate of 2016 batch. He enlightened the audience when he pointed out the sacrifices made by our parents in setting up the family business. They have created a life for us that they couldn’t get and that’s the positive part we should all focus on. The hosts for the event thanked the alumni for their inspiring words of wisdom on behalf of all the students and faculty members present and declared the Q&A round open.
During the interaction round, the students asked various questions about internships, digital marketing, life skills, economics, startups, finance, time management and various other interesting topics. The answers that the panel gave were extremely sharp & motivating. They gave valuable advice relating to Post Graduation, work experience and internships as well. The audience was intrigued by the answers that the panelists gave and their curiosity was served with great responses. The Alumni Interaction Event concluded with Dr. Indira Bhardwaj, Dean VSBS proposing a vote of thanks. She expressed the feeling of richness and liveliness that she felt throughout the session. Being extremely impressed, she further proposed the alumni to be Mentors for the Mentor-Mentee program at the VSBS. Prof. Rattan Sharma, Principal Director, VIPS presented mementos to esteemed guests as a token of gratitude.
