Sankaran’18 Academic Fest

Vivekananda School of Economics organised the second edition of Sankaran, the annual academic festival on 4th and 5th October’18.A two day long extravaganza full of exciting events to keep our brilliant minds engaged, Sankaran is entirely conceptualized and managed by our Economics society, ARTHAVIDYA.

Inauguration Ceremony

SANKARAN’18, was inaugurated by Dr. Rabi Narayan Kar, Principal, Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi, Dr. Prof. B.T Kaul, Chairperson, VLS,VIPS, Prof. Ratan Sharma, Principal Director, VIPS and Dr. Anuradha Jain, Dean, VSE, VIPS in the presence of students and VSE faculty members. This was followed by the address of Chief Guest, Dr. Rabi Narayan through which he inspired students with his immense knowledge about Business and International Management. The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony for academic achievers for session 2017-18. The three academic toppers, Rishima Singh, Sanya Kumar and Anshpreet Singh Khurana were felicitated with trophies and Shivangi Taneja and Yogesh Chauhan were felicitated for achieving 100% attendance in 2017-18 session.

In this event, participants had to represent any economics concept/law/issue using their creative drawing and sketching skills. They were judged on 4 parameters; Creativity, Strokes, Relevance of the theme to Economics and Interpretation provided.

This event involved application of the knowledge of stock market exchange and Crypto trading.Participants showed a great zeal as they were given an exposure to a real world scenario.

Game of Trades is modeled on the problem of resource allocation as ‘resources are scarce and wants are unlimited’. The game puts the participants in the shoes of economics leaders by placing them in different scenarios of political relations, where the only way out is by making crucial economics based decisions via utilizing the resources in the best possible manner.

Every team was given an arbitrary fixed budget using which they had to buy their IPL team. This game had the perfect ingredients of entertainment as well as the application of concepts of bidding, auction and competition.

Quid Pro Quo was an adventurous battle to showcase ones intellectual and economic sense. Each team represented a country and were allocated a jumbled list of resources. The teams had to identify its own resources and economise the capital allotted to buy the maximum possible correct resources which could solve their country’s economic problem.

Sankaran’18 was concluded on 5 October 2018 with the most anticipated event of the fest ‘Crescendo’- The Solo Singing Competition. It was a great opportunity for the music lovers to showcase their talents. The melodious voice of our enthusiastic participants took the audience to another realm.
