Lecture By Mr. S.M Khan, Director General ( Press Registrar and Head of the Departmnet ) Registrar of Newspapers, India on Media, Privacy and Law, 16 Feb 2017

Vivekananda Law School’s research wing Lex Questor organized a guest lecture on Media, Privacy and Law on February 16, 2017 in the Auditorium of B block. The Speaker for the event was Mr S.M. Khan, Director General ( Press Registrar and Head of the Departmnet ) Registrar of Newspapers for India . Dr. Rashmi Salpekar, Dean VLS, felicitated Mr Khan. In his lecture Mr Khan candidly shared his experience of Working with the government press and highlighted the need for introducing some regulations for checking misuse of Freedom of Expression by the Media. He also introduced the participants to many exclusive examples and challenges in working with Media. Sir, touched upon some very vital issues of balancing Freedom and Protecting Privacy in the age of social networking. He exhorted the law students to undertake an empirical study of the TRP’s of the Media programs and see whether the News channel stage heated discussions to get TRP’s. He also shared his own experiences on working with the Former President of India Mr A.P. J Abdul Kalam and motivated the students to Live up to his idea of Young Scientific India. The lecture ended with a voteof thanks by Ms. Navjeet Sidhu Kundal (Assistant Professor, Law) who extended heartfelt gratitude to the speaker for taking out time from his busy schedule and addressing students.
