Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is very proactive in organizing events which foster research culture in the faculty of the Institute. As a part of such events an International Conference is organised annually by the Business School. This year it is on Sustainability, Governance and Responsibility.

About the conference

International Conference on Sustainability, Governance and Responsibility – ICSGR 2020 will be held during 23rd- 24th January, 2020 at Vivekananda School of Business Studies, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi, India.

Sustainability, Governance and Responsibility are no longer add-ons to the markets forces but are integral to and closely linked with them. A company mandates successful convergence of all three due to the fact that they may act as tools for attaining each other’s goals despite having distinct objectives and corporate frameworks.

Sustainability is a forward looking approach wherein corporates operate in such a way that it uses limited resources today, while still ensuring that these resources are available in future. The Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) given by United Nations are an encompassing objective to be achieved by every country through the contributions of all stakeholders. Corporate sector has a big role to play in the achievement of SDGs through their corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions which allow investments in initiatives which foster sustainable development.

Governance operates within well-defined corporate structures with focus on corporate transparency, corporate disclosure, managerial accountability and managerial responsibility. On the other hand, responsibility operates in a free form manner wherein corporates have to respond to the expectations of the democratic societies in which they operate. Inclusive growth is a priority for democratic societies like India and policy initiatives in this regard have already begun and need impetus.

The aim of ICSGR 2020 is to provide a platform for students, researchers, academicians and practitioners from both academia as well as industry to share their knowledge and ideas on new trends that are currently shaping the concept of SGR - Sustainability, Governance and Responsibility. Further, the conference aims to investigate new perspectives and challenges of convergence of all three and outline possible scenarios of its development.
