One Day Workshop on Personal Media – become an entrepreneur using personal media.
Event Brief: The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of VIPS hosted a one day workshop on Personal Media and its implication on today’s youth. The event was addressed by Mr. Yogesh Kochhar, founder lyfOlyf, the first personal media platform. The event was to educate and aware the technical as well as the business management students about the entrepreneurial opportunity they have in current scenario of developing information technology applications in India.
Awareness Workshop on Skill Development, Employability & Entrepreneurship.
Event Brief: The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of VIPS organized a panel discussion on "Enhancing Skills & Employability for Management Graduates". It was an initiative in the direction of fulfilling India’s Vision 2020, wherein academia and industry need to partner with each other in order to make a substantial difference to bridge the skill gap of graduates. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Annurag Batra (Chairman & Editor-in-chief, exchange4media group and Business World). The two other panelists included: Dr. KakoliSen (Associate Dean, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, GD Goenka University) and Ms. Raman Khilnani (Trainer cum Corporate consultant). Ms. Raman Khilnani who focused on the importance of multi-skilling the graduates to become “job ready” professionals. Finally, Dr. Kakoli Sen laid emphasis on inter-disciplinary approach towards learning, institution building, and the need to promote liberal arts education in India. The event left a good lasting impression on all the attendees.
A talk on "Social Media and you.
Event Brief: A talk on "Social Media and you” was organised in the auditorium for the students of (dept). The speaker, Mr Yogesh Kochhar, underscored the need to self reflect and recognise oneself and not get lost in the sea of social and other media that keeps throwing choices at us and restrains our ability to make use of our own life aspects. He stressed on the need to define our own personal lives and its happiness Index. He said, “we don’t remember, what we posted or liked or even forwarded this morning and yet we remain so engrossed and lost in social media that we forget our own-selves and go on top live a life thats imaginary, vapour and bubble. The only person we don’t meet on our timelines is our own selves”.
Mr Kochhar, shared a preview of his own initiative titled: www.lyfolyf.com with the students that he said will enable the students to take stock of their own lives and find meaning in it. The talk was attended by nearly 200 students and was immensely appreciated.
Inter College Business Plan Competition – 2016.
Event Brief: EDC of VIPS presented Pitch Perfect, B-Plan competition on 21st April 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in conference room. Prof. Archita Nandi and Prof. Meenakshi Gandhi were our esteemed judges to judge this competition. This was an event which provided a stage for recognition towards changing one’s innovative ideas into executable Business plans, or to announce a start up to other creative minds.It ensured to attract serious budding entrepreneurs.The core philosophy behind this event was not to judge a ‘B-plan’ but to make a robust plan ready to spread its wings and to see who could pitch their business plan better than others.
Top 9 B-Plans from across Delhi & NCR colleges were qualified for the final round. Result of the Round 1 was announced one day prior to the event. In Final Round (Presentation), teams were given 10+2 minutes each to pitch their B-Plan followed by a question & answer round.
Nine candidates contested in this competition from different colleges with full zeal and zest. Candidates were judged on various factors like presentation skills, Focus on Uniqueness and economic feasibility,Ability to protect intellectual property, technology, evidence of customer acceptance, proposed use of financial resources, exit strategy for investors, expertise and abilities of the team, growth relating to job creations and revenue projections.
After a heated up and shoulder to shoulder session, it was finally the time to declare the results. The first and second position were backed by Gaurav Singh Choudhary from IIT, Delhi and Tarun&Vidit from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies,Delhi university with Rs 3000+5000 worth vouchers and Rs 1000+4000 worth vouchers respectively. This competition was a great success and a learning lesson to all the contestants.
Entrepreneurship Guest Lectures.
Event Brief: Mr. Annurag Batra mesmerized audience with his soul-stirring speech on embracing failures, following your passions, inculcating self-belief and never giving up on your childhood dreams. He shared the stories of successful people ranging from a Pakistan based singer who relentlessly pursued his dream to a Stand-up comedian who makes millions to the Professor of Carnegie Mellon who delivered his “Last Lecture” as he was suffering from a terminal pancreatic cancer.
