The Economics Department of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies organized Economathon’18, an intra college debate competition on September 10, 2018. The event aimed at providing a platform to the students to come and debate on the burning multidisciplinary topics. The enthusiastic students from various departments turned to for a heated argument on the topics –

  1. The exit of Britain from EU: A rational move or a mistake,
  2. Is Socialism to be blamed for emerging Market Crisis and
  3. Free Trade or Protectionism: Which one is the way forward?

The debate was judged by a panel of faculty from the college itself. The judging panel comprised of Dr. Ramanpreet Singh (VSBS), Dr. Deepali Kamthania (VSIT), Mr. Sunil Arya (VLS) and Ms. Sakshi Bhayana (VSE).

It was a really robust task for the panel to decide upon the winners of the event. Nevertheless, Tanya Swami and Tanisha Kapoor, Law Department (VLS) emerged as the winning duo followed by Sanjeev Jha and Radhesh Motihar, Economics Department (VSE) as the runner up pair.

The event was only successful because of the gallant effort made by the faculty coordinator Mr. Kartik Singhal and Ms. Neha Anand along with a very committed and dedicated organizing committee.
